#EFRA12thEC: Interview with Andy Murray, Designer for Schumacher RC

With current 1/12th European Champion Michal Orlowski not at the unofficial “warm-up” for this weekend’s European Championships in Eastbourne, UK, EFRA Media Partner CTRL caught the chief car designer for Champions Schumacher RC to find out their plans for the weekend!

You can this video interview and talks with Alex Hagberg, Olly Jefferies, David Spashett and Mark Styles in our exclusive Facebook Live video to hear their thoughts on the upcoming Euros in Eastbourne, UK happening right now!

EFRA: So Andy, how are you doing? So you’re here at the unofficial kind of warm up.

Andy: Yeah, I’m here. And it’s looking good, right? For coverage? Yeah.

EFRA: Obviously Alex is here. Michal is not here. Is he testing somewhere else now?

Andy: He’s having a weekend off. A very busy few weeks in off road, and we didn’t find any testing around this week so he would have had to be flying from Poland to be here. So we chose that I come and do the donkey work and see if I can learn anything and he’ll sleep and chill out.

EFRA: What an amazing year it was for you. Last year, taking the title Alex had held for so many, many, many years. It must have meant a lot to you. Is the pressure on now to to keep it in your camp?

Andy: I wouldn’t say pressure is on. I think that it’s it’s more about trying to add to what we’ve already done. You know, like I see it, and with my own racing as well like I’ve won this, well and then you just see if you can add more results to that rather than you know, because it doesn’t really mean Alex is not a tough component because we wouldn’t last.

You know, he’s still got more titles than we have, you know, with the amount of Euros he’s won. So we still see is, you know, just going to do our best and see how we can get on, see if we can add to what we’ve done.

EFRA: And it’s going to be an amazing event, just that battle, but also having a few drivers, about having some big names and it being in the UK, it’s going to be an amazing event, isn’t it?

Andy: Yeah, for sure. I mean, it’s the guys that run the MK race as well, so it’s going to be an awesome event. And yeah, it’s not just from Michal and Alex, you know, we’ve got Olly Payne now for the first time. Jorn has left Schumacher so we’ve not got him with us for this Euros but we’ve got Olly so we will be pushing and rooting behind him as well, but then you’ve got Rheinard and co, so it’s going to be an epically hard race to do well at but that makes it interesting.

EFRA: An epically hard race to do well at but it’s also going to be epically fun to watch! Thanks a lot Andy! Cheers!

Well we’ll leave you with that. Thank you for tuning in and there’ll be plenty more bits of coverage leading up to the Euros that will be happening over Eastbourne and will be available to watch on efra.ws provided by RC Vision and DDRC.

It’s going to be a fantastic event and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
