EFRA 1/10 EP Track Euros - Finals Reports

Here's how it went down at the Hudy Arena this weekend!
Modified
Bruno Coehlo came under some early pressure from Ronald Volker in the first leg, before Ronald span exiting the chicane under the driver's rostrum. As well as taking all the pressure away from Bruno, this put Ronald's car in a position that his team mate Christopher Krapp could not avoid, the pair dropping to the back of the field. Bruno edged away from the remaining pack to take the first leg, then demonstrated his dominance of the weekend by leading from lights to flag in the second leg to seal his maiden European Touring Car title. With Bruno sitting out the final leg a display of formation flying from Volker and Krapp saw them take first and second in the final leg to secure second and third on the podium.
Spec
Oliver Bultynck used his hard won pole position to his advantage, taking narrow wins in the first two legs from Oliver Havranek to seal the European title he so narrowly missed out on in Austria last year. With the title sealed, Bultynck sat out the third leg and Havranek looked to be the favourite to lock down the runner up position. Sure enough, Havranek led the majority of the second final under pressure from Dominic Vogl. A coming together between Vogl and Havranek on the final lap saw Dominic take the leg win and tie on points for second with Oliver, but Vogl's lower single round score gave him second on countback from Havranek who completed the podium.
Formula Jan Ratheisky led away for the first leg of the final, until a small mistake at the end of the straight presented an opportunity for Luke Lee to make a pass into a lead that he would not relinquish. Jan knew he had to win the second final to prevent Luke sealing the title and just managed to hang on from a fast charging Luke. All to play for in the final leg then, and an early mistake from Luke presented Jan with a lead of just over a second. Luke gradually closed on Jan until at four minutes the two cars were back together - just as we looked set for a thrilling final minute Luke made another small mistake to drop back away from a relieved Jan who took the leg win to defend his title. Luke completed a strong weekend by sealing second overall with David Ehrbar completing the podium.

Qualifying at the 2019 ISTC EFRA Euros

Three classes, three EFRA European Champions to be crowned, here's how they got on in qualifying...
1/10 SPEC Class Oliver Bultynck sealed TQ for the 13.5 class by taking the fifth round of qualifying, adding to the quickest time he'd set in round one held on Thursday evening. Oliver Havranek, Christian Donath and Dominic Vogl also took round wins to line up second, third and fourth overall respectively, in what looks set to be the most open class.
Formula Going into the last round of qualifying Jan Ratheisky and Luke Lee were tied on points, having taken two rounds each - Jan in front by virtue of his fastest time set in the cooler conditions of Thursday evening's qualifying. An early mistake from Luke in round five looked to have handed Jan the advantage, but he fought back to get himself into the lead on the clock as they entered their final minute, crucially with a predicted time faster than Jan's from round one. As they entered the final lap a mistake from Luke seemed set to hand the round win the Jan, then he unbelievably made a mistake seemingly as soon as he took the lead, allowing David Ehrbar to take the round and secure third on the grid behind Jan on pole and Luke second.
Modified Bruno Coelho continued his form from timed practice to take every round of qualifying, with Ronald Volker and Cristopher Krapp both seemingly able to match his pace over one lap early on in a run, but unable to maintain the same pace for a full five minutes and allowing Bruno to end up a few seconds ahead by the end of a run. Volker and Krapp both took two second places in round but with Ronald having set the faster time of the two he lines up second for the defence of his title, with Christopher lining up third.
