 After an intense 45 minutes final Sebastian Wartelle, who had number 1 on his car for the Main Final took a deserved title. It hasnt been just a coast to coast victory but a hard battle among the 3 main candidates Sebastien Leonard, Setephane Deroch and Sebastian Wartelle with the British driver Tommy Chung placed usually at the 4th position and racing with 1 pit stop less , he was the only one going to 9 minutes while the rest was pitting for fuel at 7:30 so the londoner might have a good chance out of it. After Chung the ones fighting for the 5th position had been Cedric Roulleau and the swedish driver Frederick Cederberg who at the early stages of the race was even fighting with the leaders. The fight among the 3 french drivers has been quite open, the faster of them was Seb Leonard but although being faster he was unconsistent as well, he mixes fastest laps with horrible laps due to crashes, and that mixture normally doesnt lead to victory. Wartelle and Deroch, on the other side decided not to be so fast but much more consistent, very few mistakes committed by both of them. As a result of the different tactics by minute 30 Wartelle and Deroch were glued together on the lead while Sebastien Leonard was struggling 10-15 seconds behind them. But to become champion sometimes you need luck on your side and it comes for Wartelle when Deroch flames out and loose a complete lap with less than 10 minutes to go and the combination become perfect for him when Leonard suffers the same problem, free way for a title for Wartelle. The other ones who takes advantage of this circumstances has been Tommy Chung who takes the 3rd position and was even able to try to fight for the second and Cederberg who claims the 4th final position. Leonard is still able to mantain the second position but he has to see how Wartelle becomes the first ever EFRA European Champion Over 40 1/8th IC Off Road Buggy. P.
