It has not been an easy game for Seb Leonard, even being the faster driver on the track he has not been able to claim the poloposition until the very last 5th round of qualifying.
At Second round Deroch with his Serpent Cobra won with Seb Wartelle repeating second position and Tommy Chung improving to 3rd place with Cedric Roulleau placing himself in front of Leonard, six position went to JC Sartel, the brother of Jerome, with british driver Adrian Svensson in 7th while a surprising Xavier Caste took the 8 position being the last driver able to make 8 laps.
The 3rd round gaves us a third different winner, now the turn went to Jean Christophe Sartel, with londoner Tommy Chung keeping on with his improvement line taking now the second position while the third goes to the strong Swedish driver Cedric Cederberg, the susprise now comes from a lower group, Team C shirt driver Roger Capelleman claims the 4th spot and the exclusive club of the 8 lappers, with only 5 names now, is closed by Stephane Deroch.
the 4th round brings us the best Seb Leonard of the race, 8 laps on 5:27, Wartelle is now second with Deroch, Chung, Roulleau and Svensson being the rest of the 8 lappers boys (or should I say grandpas?)
So at the very last try there are 3 candidates, Seb Leonard with 2 victories and Deroch and Sartel as the winners of the other 2 rounds, but when the important moments come Leonard is still there so he wins the last round with nearly 10 seconds advantage (another 5:27)over the second who is Wartelle, third is Deroch and the Brittons Chung and Svensson make a sandwich with Cedric Roulleau, so only 6 drivers able to make the 8th club.
Tomorrow we will have the finals and we will find out who is the best Over40 European driver or at least we will find out who is the first European Champion +40.
