Lunchtime Update

Track remains closed
As the rain continues to fall, a team managers meeting was called at noon here in France. With the track now heavily waterlogged, there was much debate about how the event may continue. Section chairman Paul Worsley reminded all the team managers that to have an official event, a round of controlled practise plus 2 complete qualifying rounds must be completed.

The various options depend on if and when the rain stops, and how quickly the club are able to dry out the track. The best scenario now appears to be to hope the rain stops shortly, allowing the controlled practise round to be completed this evening.
If there was then little further overnight rain, it may be possible to complete 4 rounds of qualifying and the finals tomorrow.

Of course, if it does keep raining and the controlled practise cannot be run tonight, tomorrow will be reduced to just 3 qualifying rounds to enable the practise to be run.

In a "worst case scenario", the event needs to start track action by 2pm tomorrow, to allow the necessary practise and 2 qualifying rounds to be run. The European Championship would then be decided purely based on qualifying results.

We will bring you any further news later. A final decision on today's running will be taken at 3pm.
