EC B Final 1/8 IC Off-Road, Lyon - 1/2 A

1/2 A Final Report
The 1/2 A Final featured the top qualifier, Frenchman Laurent Tartare, who was allowed to practice in both of the 1/2 Final practices - this is a new EFRA rule to give more importance to the TQ position and encourage racers to really go for it in qualifying. It allows the driver on pole position to get a good read of the track before the semi-finals and makes TQ that much more desirable.
The starting order: 1 TARTARE Laurent, FR; 2 NOBLE Maxime, FR; 3 BALDÓ Oscar, ES; 4 BAUER Dominic, AT; 5 LE ROUX Loïc, FR; 6 JOHANSSON Mikael, SE; 7 KERRY Ed, GB; 8 PÉREZ MAYORAL Adrian, ES; 9 SOLER DIAZ Jorge, ES; 10 BACRO Jonathan, FR; 11 MUTEL Sébastien, FR; 12 LACHEZE Jean-Marc, FR
The top 6 drivers in each 1/2 final would bump up into the A Final, so it was important to drive consistently and smooth. In the first several minutes, the #2 car of Maxime Noble was in the lead, followed by a battling pack of drivers: Loic Le Roux, Dominc Bauer and Oscar Baldo. Larent Tartare was running in fifth, in a safe bump-up position but finishing further up the order would make an A Final start much easier to win from!
Unfortunately for Larent, at the 8-minute mark he was passed on the track by Jonathan Bacro and Adrian Perez Mayoral, dropping him to 7th and just out of the automatic bump-up positions. With five minute remaining, Maxime still held the lead with Dominc in second. Oscare remained in third with Jonathan in fourth, Laurent had moved up to fifth and Loic to sixth. With 2 minutes to go, Adrian had taken over sixth from Loic and the two were neck and neck! At the end of race time, the final order was: 1 Maxime Noble, FR; 2 Oscar Balso, ES;
3 Dominic Bauer, AT; 4 Jonathan Bacro, FR; 5 Laurent Tartare, FR; 6 Adrian Perez Mayoral, ES
