 The first of the 20-minute 1/4 Finals now, and Jonathan Bacro and Sebastien Mutel, both from France started first and second, stayed ahead of the chasing pack as the race started. Gerard Roig Ibanez was struck with a stop-and-go penalty after jumping the starting tone, and was swallowed up by the crowd after he served his penalty in the pit lane. Jorge Soler Diaz moved into third position from ninth on the starting line, then took over the lead as the Frenchmen pitted for fuel. Nuno Casal Ribeiro from Portugal also took advantage of the pit lane timings to move into second. With five minutes to go, Jonathan had forced his way back into second spot, with Sebastien following behind. With three minutes to go, the gap between first and second was a few seconds, with another few seconds back to third, so not quite a 'cruise home' but after the initial battle it was a well-deserved easy victory for Jorge! |
