1:10th IC Euros : Finals Underway

Current champ Dirk is TQ... still!
The drivers really have been at the mercy of the weather this weekend in Gothenburg at the European 1:10th IC touring car championships. The - wet then dry then damp then dry then wet again - qualifications have meant that many have only been at their best in round 1, with just a few lower ranking drivers able to improve their times in rounds 3 and 4.
The top 4 qualifiers, automatically placed in sundays final have each welcomed the rain but also stressed dryer conditions would help them improve their times further and, of course gain more practice.

British Driver Mark Green, was around half a second outside the crucial top four and in high spirits going into the fourth round said he felt his Serpent car was easily good enough and he hoped to 'pinch it' sadly the weather was at hand again so he will be on pole in Semi final A. With XRay driver Adrian Berntsen behind him. Adrian (pictured) was also upbeat, saying he'd had some bad luck, but if things went his way he could see himself inside the top four. Right behind Adrian in the semi will be Christer Andersson in a more realistic mood stating that no one could now get in the top 4 and the top would change very little in the final round.
It turns out Christer was right, virtually no movement both at the top end of the table, or indeed the track! Alexander Hagberg, looked to be practicing in rounds 3 and 4 and will take pole in the semi final B with Manuel Huber, Jillies Groskamp and 2003-04 champion Michael Salven 4th on the grid behind them.
As the lower finals get underway, many struggling top drivers now have their work cut out battling through the finals system - for the spectators though this will make for a thrilling finals, with the talent and quality spread throughout the finals with some fantastic battles and overtaking as the determined fight their way through to the top!
