1:6 Buggy Euros : 1/16 and 1/8 Finals

Drivers Try to Move Up the Ladder
As it reaches midday, the track gets even warmer for the 1/16 Finals. In the 1/16 B Final, it was all about two German youngsters. Felix Horenz led the final from pole from the very first lap. Once again, Alexander Schmitt carefully worked his way up through the field to take second place by the end of the 20 minute race. Fourth place starter Carles Cort Laliana (Spain) had a good start and secured the last bump-up position. These three drivers now have around half an hour to work on their cars before they race again in the 1/8 Final
Perhaps the track conditions were now starting to suit the German drivers as it was another who secured the win in the 1/16 A Final. Andreas Kamp started second but took the lead early on, setting the fastest lap of the race in the closing stages too. Starting last on the grid didn't seem to trouble Swiss driver Marc Grindat as after a careful start he began making up places and finished the race in second place. Michael Matalik (Germany) took the third place and so will advance up the “Christmas Tree” finals system. Pole sitter Miroslav Hosek (Czech Republic) led early in the race, but a few mistakes cost him some places before he retired at half distance
Moving up to the 1/8 B Final, it was the three German drivers who took the top places to advance into the Quarter Finals. Remarkably, Alexander Schmitt again worked his way through the field to take the win. Getting his car more dialled every run, he also set the fastest lap time. Second place was the driver who beat him in the 1/16 Final, Felix Horenz. Third was Peter Utz Ernst completing the German lock-out. Pole sitter Ludovic Dias (France) led the early stages, before being passed by one by one by the German drivers
In the 1/8 A Final, second place starter Antony Piolet (France) got the best start to take the lead. He was pushed all the way by Kevin Trottmann (Switzerland). The final transfer spot went to another French driver, Dany Millet. Missing out by 10 seconds on a quarter final place was Swiss driver Melanie Trottmann.
