Sunday Morning in Austria

Finals Get Underway in Fehring
The first of the finals to hit the track here at Fehring was on the 1/64 B Final. Pole sitter Kim B Poulsen (Denmark) led the first lap, but was passed by German youngster Alexander Schmitt in the early stages of the 15 minute final. Schmitt stayed out in front to win, the only driver to make it onto the 18th lap. Kim held second position and Marc Macia Parcerisas (Spain) took third after starting second on the grid.

Missing out on bumping up the finals ladder was Elvis Zankl (Germany), finishing half a lap down on third placed Marc. Schmitt showed what could be in store later on as he set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap, despite knowing he had already done enough to take the win
Over to the 1/64 A Final and again it was the pole sitter – Oliver Daibler - who got the best start. Unfortunately, the German driver dropped out of the race on lap three after having been passed for the lead by seventh place starter Jaume Bartoll Escrig (Spain). Jaume held the lead until the end of the final, winning by five seconds from Austrian Patrik Kowatschitsch. Christian P B Williams finished third to secure the final advancing position. Missing out this time in fourth place was French Junior Robin Kranc
Under the hot morning sunshine the 1/32 B Final took off. With the race time now increased to 20 minutes, the cars would yet again need to be adapted to the different track conditions and race duration. German Junior driver Alexander Schmitt proved his 1/64 Final pace was no one-off, starting eighth on the grid he had moved up to third by the end of lap one. Austrian Arno Webernig had taken the lead after starting fourth, but car troubles around lap 5 dropped him a number of laps down and he eventually retired just before half distance. Schmitt moved up and took the win, Frenchman Loic Sarret finished second after he managed to set the fastest lap time on lap 2. These two drivers were the only ones to make 24 laps in this final. After an intense battle for the final transfer position, Denmark's Henrik Westerberg eventually took the place by only two seconds from fellow countryman Anders G Kure
The 1/32 A Final had poleman Marko Kerum (Croatia) make the best start to lead lap 1. But a number of mistakes throughout the race slowly dropped him back through the field and he would eventually finish fifth. Jaume Bartoll Escrig (Spain), who had bumped up from the 1/64 Final, was the man on the move as he worked his way up the field to eventually win the race from his eighth place starting position. German Christian Weiß had some issues with his transponder, so the timekeepers carefully consulted the race times and lap counting system before verifying his second place finish. Third was Swiss driver Marc Grindat
