Qualifying Round 3 Update

Dutch domination continues!
Round Three of the qualifying for the inaugural Large Scale Off Road European Championships has been completed. The sun is shining now and temperatures are quickly rising. All the damp patches on the track from the morning have long gone, but left a very dusty surface giving the 90 drivers in attendance yet more challenging track conditions.

Despite the dry track, many drivers are now reporting the track is becoming slower and harder to drive as the dust on the racing line makes it difficult to find grip for the 1:6th scale buggies.
The officials met and carefully discussed the penalty procedure after a few drivers missed their marshalling duties. They ruled that any driver who failed to marshall on time would lose their single best qualifying time.

Most affected by this ruling is one of the pre-event favourites Dario Veseli. He currently is set to lose his round 1 time, and now falls back to his time set during the dusty round 3. Currently sitting in fifth place, the Croatian driver who was one of the stars at last weeks On-Road Euros says he will try to better his time in the final round but admits it will be tricky and is disappointed not to be able to start higher up.
With no other drivers in the top 15 recording a better time, many are now realising their only chance to make the Main Final tomorrow afternoon will be by working their way up the “Christmas Tree” finals system, not expecting the track conditions in the last round will allow much improvement.
Stay tuned to www.efra.ws for the final qualifying results after the fourth round of qualifying, the press conference and lots more interviews from the competitors at the RC Buggy Racing Centre in Fehring.
