Quarter Finals Action

And, of course, it's still getting hotter!
The temperature here at the circuit now pushes towards 33 degrees, meaning the track surface is scorching and giving the cars and drivers the hottest conditions to contend with all weekend.
The track conditions did not seem to slow Ilia Van Gastel down, perhaps his earlier racing in the 1/8 Final had helped him dial his car in better. From 9th on the grid, the Belgian driver took the win in the B Quarter Final, finishing a lap and a half clear of his closest competitor. Also recording the fastest lap of the race, Van Gastel hopes his experience racing today already will help in the Semi Finals.

Italian driver Mirko Salemi finished in second place after starting third on the grid. Just two seconds behind was Swede Marcus Lindner. Another driver moving up from the lower finals, he takes the last transfer spot and will race the Semi Final later this afternoon. Pole sitter Eric Dankel (Germany) lost a lot of time towards the end of the race and dropped out of contention.
Again the experience of racing on this demanding circuit already today showed through in the A Quarter Final. Germany's Oliver Mack moved from his 9th place starting place to take a commanding victory, 2 laps clear of the field.

Stefano Solaroli (Italy) finished second, half a lap up on third place finisher Jernej Vuga (Slovenia). Again the pole sitter suffered problems – this time first place starter Marco Vanni didn't make the start of the race, finishing 6th at the end of the 20 minute race.
Just the Semi Finals separate the drivers from making the European Championship Main Final now, join us later today to see who makes the big show.
