1/8 Finals

The racing continues in Locorotondo.
The last races to be run this morning were the 1/8 finals.
In the 'B' final, it was Italian Alberto Tedeschi who took a very close win, beating Belgian Ilia Van Gastel by one and a half seconds. Tedeschi, who won the EFRA B Championship in Monaco a month ago, said he felt confident after the final for later in the day.

Joining these two in progressing to the Quarter Finals was Marcus Lidner, the Swede advancing another final after starting in the 1/16 Finals earlier today. Stephane Riccobono (France) started 10th and moved up to 4th by the end of the race, sadly just one place away from getting into the Quarter Finals.
Over in the 'A' Final, Nikita Yuryev just managed to hold on for the win, despite running out of fuel on the final lap. Luckily, the Russian driver had just enough lead over Oliver Mack (Germany) to make an extra lap and so finish in first place.

Anthoni Abisset (France), who had bumped up from the 1/16 Finals, finished in third place. It was bad luck for pole sitter Silvio Hachler (Switzerland) who retired half way through the race.
The four top drivers now have their own 20 minute practise session, before the finals resume after lunch.
