Final Report from Monaco EC-B

All the action from La Turbie
The start of the race saw Andrea Lorenzi take the lead from pole. Tim Wood dropped down a few places as John Ermen moved to second and Simon Kurzbach to third. Three minutes into the race, Tim caught and passed all three drivers after an accident ion the back straight slowed the leading cars. Tim started to stretch out a small lead before the first round of pit stops. A few changes in position following the stops and then Andrea running out of fuel just before the second stop left the top three as Tim, John and Alberto Tedeschi after 10 minutes of racing.
As the race approached the 15 minute mark, it was clear some drivers had opted to change tires twice during the 45 minute final whilst some would be hoping to make it with just one tire change. Emanuele Comoglio and Alberto came in to change tires after 15 minutes, along with John a few laps later. After these pitstops, Tim had regained the lead from Emanuele, Alberto and Andrea Ciurlante.
Tim Pitted for tires at the half way point of the race, and looked at this point perhaps to be on th best strategy to win. Just after 25 minutes of racing, Tim was the first driver to reach 100 laps, leading at this point from Alberto, John and Emanuele.
Tim Pitted for tires at the half way point of the race, and looked at this point perhaps to be on th best strategy to win. Just after 25 minutes of racing, Tim was the first driver to reach 100 laps, leading at this point from Alberto, John and Emanuele.

With just over 15 minutes remaining, Tim crashed heavily in the infield, jumping over park of the track. The car was damaged and had to be returned to the pits, effectivly taking Tim out of the running for the Championship. The fault was later traced to the steering servo arm which had come off, causing the accident. This left John with a small lead from Alberto, Emanuele, Andrea Lorenzi and Andrea Ciurlante.
The race moved into the final minutes, and it appeared the race for victory would be between John and Alberto. Alberto took the lead with less than 5 minutes remaining, and held on to take the win from John. Andrea Ciurlante managed to move up to third, with Emanuele crossing the line in fourth.
However, in post race scrutineering, John's fuel tank was found to be slightly over the limit. After a number of tests, it was ruled the capacity was above the legal limit, thus unfortunatly disqualifying John from the results.

So the overall result was:
1. Alberto Tedeschi - IT - Serpent/Max/ATS Tires
2. Andrea Ciurlante - IT - Mugen/Siro/Matrix Tires
3. Andrea Lorenzi - IT - Serpent/Max/UFRA Tires
4. Emanuele Comoglio - MON - Motonica/Novarossi
5. Gerald Colinet - FR - Serpent/RB
6. Tim Wood - GB - Serpent/Mega
7. Maximilian Federmann - GER - Mugen/Novarossi
8. Sabrina Lechner - GER - Serpent/Max
9. Simon Kurzbuch - CH - Shepherd/Max
10 (DQ) John Ermen - NL - Serpent/RB
