EFRA Large Scale Touring Car and F1 Qualifying Report

Fantastic weather and a fantastic track awaited the 118 drivers here in Tourlaville in the North West of France.
4 rounds of qualifying took place over Thursday and Friday Morning for both the Large Scale F1 and Touring car classes.
In F1 it was Germany's Tobias Gagesch who claimed the Pole position and direct qualification to the A Main. He set the fastest time in round 2 or qualifying and with the Large Scale On road section now the only group in EFRA to use single fastest time qualifying that one rum was enough.
Behind him Timo Nau, (Germany) Christophe Hinault (France) , Kevin Stegmuller (Switzerland), and Andreas Blum (Austria) These 4 contested for the Super Pole with Timo triumphant and also through to the Min final directly.
In the Touring Car Class it was a battle royale as several drivers looked capable of taking the TQ. This was further enlivened by the top drivers being spread over the top 2 heats giving us double value as we waited to find out who could set the fastest time.
In the end it was Large Scale Legend Markus Feldman and his Mecatech chassis that reigned supreme once more giving him top spot for the final.
Danish wonderkid Patrick Folmann ran Markus hard to qualify second and he also triumphed in the super Pole event, so qualifying straight through to the final.
The other Super Pole qualifiers were 2016 Champion Giovanni Verbrugghe from Belgium, Edoardo Repetti from Italy and multi Large scale off road European champion Dario Veseli from Croatia.
Reigning champion Bernard Alain Arnaldi could do no better than 6th best qualifier in his native France, but was showing signs that he shouldn't be discounted from retaining his title.
The F1 Final will be contested over 25 Minutes with the Touring cars over their traditional 30 Minute trip.
