Boots claims dramatic victory at the EFRA 1/8th Off Road European Championships
Elliot Boots achieved a second consecutive European championship title here in Spain on Saturday Afternoon in a dramatic and intensely exciting 45 Minute final.
From the start tone it was obvious that this years championship was going to be between three men, pole sitter David Ronnefalk, Current champion Elliott Boots and former World and European champion Robert Battle.
Ronnefalk leapt into the lead initially followed by Boots and Battle the three cars circulated a second or so apart all the way to the first pit stop where slick work enabled the Spaniard Battle to get into a position to pass Boots and chase down Ronnefalk.

The Swede lost the lead a couple of laps later with a small mistake and the race entered a fascinating stage where Battle led for lap after lap with Ronnefalk gaining only to drop back again following a small mistake. The Swede seemed to have the pace but just couldn’t get past Battle until with 10 minutes to go when a small mistake at the top of the circuit let Ronnefalk through, as Battle turned hunter from hunted his pace increased but so did the mistakes and this brought Boots back into play until disaster struck the Spainard just one lap later and Battle was out with Throttle servo failure. Then, remarkably race leader Ronnefalk ground to a halt just a few seconds later with exactly the same failure leaving Boots with a massive lead and just 9 minutes to run.
The Briton duly reeled off the laps for an extraordinary win, with a resurgent Yannick Aigon in Second and a first major Nitro podium for Neil Cragg to go with his multiple titles in Europe and the world in Electric racing.
The 36th running of the EFRA 1/8th European championship will be one for the ages...
