Qualifying done in Cassino

A fantastic day complete with 'Super Pole' excitement!
What an honour for RCTV to return to perhaps the greatest on road RC facility in Italy, the fantastic Collari track in Cassino, and there's a fantastic atmosphere here as qualifying draws to a close, not just because the weather has held out but also because there is a new qualifying system! So for the 1/8th and 1/10th foam classes we have 5 rounds of qualifying where drivers aim to shed as many points as possible. Top qualifier is placed in the final, then the 4 behind the pole man battle the clock in a high octaine mad dash to tear around the track the fastest in the hope of direct promotion into the main final right behind the poleman...

So safely in the main final (after his first 3 perfect runs) is Luca Piromalli, The Itallian was on flying form and was able to test a few things in heat 4 and even sit out heat 5 (presumably to save tyres) He says the track is pretty easy and unsurprisingly he thinks the new qualifying system is great!
The ultimate beneficiary of the new 'Super Pole' climax to qualifying was Tom Kragefski with his fastest of 6 laps being 14.383 From Mattia Colavo's 14.445. German driver Tom, who will start from 2nd on the grid in the main final said he very much enjoyed the new qualifying system and that the opportunity to hear the top cars complete laps individually (revs, clutch etc.) would provide interesting information for all drivers
