EFRA 1/12th Euros - Qualifying Report.

Hagberg and Honigl on Pole in Slovakia.
After 6 rounds of qualifying for the 1/12th European Championship it was Sweden’s Alexander Hagberg who took Pole in the Modified class for Xray, with Serpent “new boy” Hupo Honigl taking the honours in Stock at the fantastic Hudy arena
The track has been a major talking point, but for once not for any negative issue as early bumps have been smoothed out and grip levels are now both high and consistent, however the unforgiving nature of the layout that has really challenged all the drivers is bound to make for very exciting Finals as running clean, even at the front of the “A” final is going to be almost impossible!
Modified.

Pre event favourite Alex Hagberg lived up to that billing but not without a severe fight first from team mate Olly Jefferies and then, a big push fron 2010 champion Juho Levenan from Finland.
Hagberg took pole with TQs in round 1,4 and 5; with Jeffries TQ’ing round 2 and the fast improving Levenhan rounds 3 and 6. Juho’s car looks quicker over a lap whilst Alex managed to run cleaner qualifiers, tomorrow they will star the 3 legs of the “A” final separated by just a meter.

The full A final Line up is
1- Alexander Hagberg – Sweden
2- Juho Levanen – Finland
3- Olly Jefferies – GB
4- Markus Mobers – Germany
5- Hupo Honigl – Austria
6- Martin Wollanka – Austria
7- Dominic Vogl – Germany
8- Mark Stiles – GB
9- Tim Altmann – Germany
10- Vesa Yli – Finland

Stock

Hupo Honigl was pretty much untouchable taking TQ in the first 5 rounds of qualifying, missing out on a clean sweep after having to retire in round 6 handing the final round TQ to Mike Gosvig, who will line up second on the grid. In 3rd we will see American Brian Wynn racing in the European championship thanks to a special rule that allows non European residents to enter the EFRA “Open” events (this, the 1/10th Touring Car Stock motor event and the “B” IC Track events). Improving throughout the day as he dialed himself into European racing, Brian could be a good bet to lift the crown tomorrow!

The full Stock A final Line up is

1- Hupo Honigl – Germany
2- Mike Gosvig – Denmark
3- Brian Wynn – USA
4- Vesa Yli – Finland
5- Simon Rubet – France
6- Christoffer Hedland – Sweden
7- Ollie Payne –GB
8- Leigh Burton – GB
9- Robert Klier – Germany
