EFRA 1/10th Touring Car Euros – Finals Report!

Finals Report!
Ronald Volker claimed his 3rd outdoor European Title with a text book performance in Portugal. Starting from Pole the German won the first two legs to claim the 2013 EFRA title to join the 2007 and 2010 trophies already on his mantelpiece.Providing his closest challenge, as he had done for the entire event was Sweden’s Alexander Hagberg who followed Volker home in both the first two legs, however these were not dull finals as at no point was Volker more than a second ahead and for most of Leg 2 the Yokomo and the Xray were separated by centimetres. Leg 3 saw Hagberg take a comfortable win as Volker sat our the race as tradition dictates.
Volker seemed genuinely elated with his victory which perhaps begins to make up for the disappointment of the World Championship Finals in Holland last year.
Hagberg too was pleased not just with the result but with the upturn in performance the latest mods had given his Xray T4, which up until this weekend had struggled on Tarmac
Completing a “jolly threesome” was Elliott Harper who rounded off an impressive Euro champs debut for the new Durango DETC 410 with two 3rds and a second for the final place on the podium.
Freddy Sudhoff gave Awsomeatix a great afternoon with 4th, but there will be long faces in the Tamiya pits with World Champion Jilles Groskamp only 5th and Marc Rheinhard, so long dominant outdoors, a distant 7th.
Another winner was the Torres Novas club who organised and ran the event impeccably, with all the drivers exceptionally complementary about the track and facilities, and speaking personally they gave us at RC Racing TV a huge amount of help during the weekend!
The EFRA European Championship Season concludes in 2 weeks time in Austria for the 1/10th IC Track event- Be sure to tune into www.rcracing.tv from Wednesday the 14th for Live Streaming action!
