Ongaro runs rings around qualifying..

But uncertain day lies ahead for all
Qualifying today at the sun drenched Ongaroring in Sacile, Italy saw 4 rounds of busy bustling action, with 140 racers representing 20 nations. A truly packed event and little time to kick back and soak up the rays. Fortunately the facility is incredibly well run with an innovative bar code driver pass system producing personalised hand out race numbers. All of this means the hundreds of bodies are at the right place at the right time and technical inspection keeps the buggies flowing, so in fact there is time for the odd water fight or two at this high spirited event!
Well for much of the day Davide Ongaro was unstoppable with just a few small mistakes in Q3 allowing fellow RB driver Marco Baruffolo to take TQ in the penultimate round.. But as Q4 drew to a close Ongaro was clearly top qualifier, while the heavens opened and the lower finals were postponed and a storm of biblical proportions submerged much of the track in several inches of water in a matter of minutes! So a degree of uncertainty casts a shadow over finals day tomorrow as many will hope the weather settles down. One thing is clear though, RB / Kyosho's visiting dignitary and 1:8 master Yuchi Kanai is enjoying his time in Italy and has been very impressed by the talent on display. He even went so far as to suggest a future world champion might just be in our midst…
