Sabrina Lechner - International Women of RC

We're devoting an entire week to getting to know just a few of the great women at the heart of our sport. So let's get started with Sabrina!
So let's get straight down to the questions and find out a bit more about this experienced IC on road racer and World Championship quarter finalist!
Hi Sabrina, how did you get started in RC?
To be honest I'm born on the track. Because my parents do this fantastic hobby more than 30 years. So thanks to my parents I started later also driving 1/8 and 1/10.
Racing cars is traditionally a male dominated activity - did you find RC a welcoming environment to join?
Ah yes very true.. and I'm one of the 'few woman' on the track. But I think i was always welcomed, of course when i was on the rostrum it was not always easy to fight with the guys because they saw the girl in me and thought girls with RC can't be fast ;-p LOL ! But back to the pits area it's family feeling.
Would you like to see more women in the sport?
Of course it would be nice to see more girls. Already in off-road there are 2/3 girls... Woman power is fantastic!
What would you say to any women reading this considering getting involved?
In my opinion its a fantastic environment to be in for a 'boy hobby!' ...come on girls let's get going to the track. Because i can just tell you, Its not only racing - its more...! It's fantastic to hang out with friends from all over the world, some relationships are growing more to be part of a family. Plus you can travel a lot thanks the international races.
Finally, as it's International Women's Day. What will you be doing to celebrate?...
Hehe! RC is also work for us so our whole life is about RC, but of course out of the track I'm a normal Woman. I like to be out with my family and friends. I'm mother of my 8 year old son. And on 8th March i will go out for a cocktail with all my friends to celebrate International Women's Day!
